I’m Phil. I live in San Francisco, I hold a physics PhD from Stanford, and I work as an entrepreneur and hardware engineer. I enjoy thinking about a variety of things, and I’m naive enough to think you might want to hear about them.
Ab initio is one of my favorite terms from the physics world. It means “from first principles” or “from the beginning”, and it’s used to refer to theories or calculations that are built from the ground up, using only the most basic principles. When I encounter an issue that seems complicated, I find that it often helps to think about it from the ground up to try to understand the real roots of the problem. Many of the posts in this blog will have that flavor. Enjoy!
